For many patients, that feeling of gagging and discomfort was the worst part of going to the dentist. Fortunately, thanks to the 3D dental scanner, that “last-century” dentistry is a thing of the past.

At Acosta Cubero Dental Clinic in Vélez-Málaga, we have replaced uncomfortable impression pastes with the precision and comfort of 3D intraoral scanning. Today we want to explain how this technology not only makes your visit far more pleasant, but also ensures your treatments are much more accurate. Welcome to the era of digital dentistry! 🚀

What exactly is an intraoral scanner? 🤔

An intraoral scanner is a small high-speed camera that we pass gently around the inside of your mouth. Instead of using paste, this device takes thousands of photos per second to create an exact three-dimensional model of your teeth and gums on a computer screen, in real time and in full colour.

It’s literally like shooting a high-definition video of your teeth. The process is quick and clean and, most importantly, it lets you see the state of your mouth on a big screen while the dentist explains the diagnosis. 🛡️

The benefits of the 3D dental scanner for patients ⚠️

Using the 3D scanner at our clinic in Vélez-Málaga has revolutionised the patient experience for several reasons:

No more gagging: by doing away with alginate or silicone pastes, that choking sensation disappears. It’s the ideal method for children or adults with a very sensitive gag reflex.

Pinpoint accuracy: paste moulds could distort or form bubbles, sometimes meaning the process had to be repeated. The digital file can’t be altered, which means your crowns, veneers or orthodontic aligners will fit first time with a precision that used to be unthinkable.

Faster treatments: because your models are sent online to the laboratory instantly (instead of by courier), waiting times are drastically reduced. ✨

Your treatment planned down to the last detail ⚙️

At Acosta Cubero Dental Clinic we use this scan for almost everything:

Orthodontic simulation: if you’re thinking about Invisalign or invisible orthodontics for adults, the scanner lets us show you a simulation of how your aligned teeth will look before you even start treatment.

Prosthetics and implants: we design your new crowns or bridges on your digital model, making sure your bite is perfect and natural from day one.

Monitoring wear: we can compare today’s scan with one taken a year from now to see exactly how much your teeth have worn down from bruxism or how much your gums have receded.

Come and discover the future of your smile in Vélez-Málaga! 😊

Technology should always serve patient comfort.
