Invisalign First in Vélez-Málaga
Iron-free, sores-free, tear-free infant orthodontics
We know your child's health is your priority, but the fear of them suffering with metal braces is real. At Acosta Cubero Dental Clinic, we've transformed the experience of children's orthodontics.
Thanks to the Invisalign First system, we can correct skeletal development problems (such as a narrow palate) in children aged 6 to 10 using comfortable, clear aligners. It's the evolution of interceptive orthodontics: we achieve the same results as with traditional expanders, but allowing your child to eat, play, and smile with complete freedom.
Guiding Your Growth
The window of opportunity (6 to 10 years)
Invisalign First isn't simply about "straightening your teeth." It's a medical treatment designed for the mixed dentition stage (when both baby and permanent teeth are present). At this age, the jawbones are malleable. We take advantage of this natural growth to:
Expand the palate
No need for the cumbersome metal circuit breakers that make it difficult to speak.
Create space
We ensure that large permanent teeth have room to erupt, avoiding extractions in the future.
Correct bites
We fix crossbites or open bites that, if not treated now, would require surgery in adulthood.
Ideal Candidates
Kid-friendly technology
In our clinic in Vélez-Málaga, we have eliminated the part most feared by children: pink paste from the molds.
Early Diagnosis
What problems does Invisalign First correct?
Invisalign First is designed for Phase 1 (Interceptive Orthodontics), the critical period when we can guide bone growth. By detecting and treating these anomalies now at our clinic in Vélez-Málaga, we can avoid much longer, more complex, and more expensive treatments (including surgery) during adolescence.
Narrow palate (maxillary compression)
This is the most frequent problem. The palate bone is too narrow and does not “fit” well with the lower jaw.
The First solution: We used to use metal expanders with a screw in the palate that were uncomfortable when eating and speaking. Now, Invisalign First gently widens the palate by changing aligners, creating a wide, beautiful arch without discomfort.
Lack of Space (Early Crowding)
When permanent teeth are much larger than baby teeth and don’t have room to erupt, they start to come in crooked or become impacted.
The First solution: Aligners expand the dental arch to create extra space. They act as a guide, reserving the exact space for permanent teeth to erupt straight from the start, preventing future extractions.
Crossbite
It occurs when, when you close your mouth, your upper teeth bite inside your lower teeth (either in the front or side area).
The risk: If not corrected in time, the child’s jaw can grow crooked (facial asymmetry), causing skeletal problems that, in adulthood, can only be fixed with surgery. Invisalign corrects this position, restoring symmetry to the bite.
Dental Protrusion ("Rabbit Teeth")
It occurs when the upper incisors are very inclined outwards and protrude a lot compared to the lower ones.
Safety first: Beyond aesthetics, these teeth are very exposed and have a high risk of fracture if the child falls or is hit while playing. By moving them back, we protect their smile and improve lip closure.
Anterior Open Bite
When you close your mouth, your molars touch but your front teeth don’t touch, leaving a gap where your tongue sometimes peeks out.
The cause: It’s usually caused by prolonged pacifier use or thumb sucking. Invisalign First, combined with exercises, helps close the bite so the child can cut food properly (like a sandwich) and pronounce words correctly.

Invisalign First FAQs
Everything you need to know before you take the plunge
We know that investing in your child's oral health is an important decision, and that understandable concerns arise: "Will they wear it?", "Will they lose it at recess?", "Will it hurt?". Here, we answer these real worries with complete transparency.
At what age should the first check-up be done?
The Spanish Society of Orthodontics recommends the first visit at age 6. This is a key moment when the first permanent molars begin to erupt and bone growth problems can be detected.
How many hours do they have to wear it?
For it to work, they must wear it for 22 hours a day. It’s only removed for eating and brushing teeth. Because they’re so comfortable, children get used to them very quickly (even better than adults) and incorporate them into their routine without complaint.
What happens if you lose an aligner at school?
We know they’re children. The Invisalign First system may include special warranties for these cases. If you lose one, let us know and we’ll order a replacement. Until it arrives, you can continue using the old one.
Is it much more expensive than braces?
The price difference has been significantly reduced. If you value fewer visits, no emergencies (braces don’t come loose), and the health of your gums, it’s an investment that more than pays off in terms of family quality of life.
Will you need another orthodontic when you grow up?
Invisalign First is “Phase 1” (bone). Its goal is to prepare the area. In many cases, the child is perfectly happy with the results. In others, upon reaching adolescence (12-13 years old), a much shorter and simpler “Phase 2” (Invisalign Teen) may be needed to finalize aesthetic details, but this will prevent extractions or surgeries.
