Why choose a Maxillofacial Surgeon?
Unlike general dentistry, maxillofacial surgery is a medical-surgical specialty. This means you're in the hands of a doctor who is an expert not only in teeth, but also in the complete anatomy of your skull, muscles, nerves, and bones.
At our clinic, Dr. Rocío Urbano plans each procedure using 3D CT technology. This allows us to operate with absolute safety margins, protecting delicate structures and ensuring a much faster and more comfortable recovery for you.

Maxillofacial Surgery
Solutions to complex problems
Maxillofacial surgery is the specialty that connects dentistry with advanced medicine. At Acosta Cubero, we understand that the mouth is not an isolated element, but rather the center of your facial harmony.
Our team of surgeons addresses complex pathologies of the skull and neck with a comprehensive vision: we use digital technology and minimally invasive protocols to solve bone and functional problems, always prioritizing the recovery of aesthetic balance and your postoperative well-being.
Orthognathic Surgery
The perfect balance between bone and teeth. It focuses on correcting severe discrepancies between the upper and lower jaws (skeletal malocclusion). When orthodontics is insufficient because the problem lies in the bone, we intervene to place the facial bones in their ideal position.
-
Benefit: It not only radically improves facial aesthetics (profile, chin), but also solves serious problems with chewing, speech, and sleep apnea.
Reconstructive Surgery
Restoring form and function. We address facial deformities, whether present at birth (congenital) or acquired through trauma or bone loss. Our team uses innovative approaches to reconstruct lost bone structures and soft tissues.
-
Objective: To restore the patient to normal anatomical and functional state, improving their self-esteem and ability to relate to others.
Complex Extractions
Precision in difficult cases. Not all extractions are the same. Our surgeons are highly trained to handle impacted teeth, teeth located near sensitive nerves, or teeth with abnormal roots.
-
Safety: We use minimally invasive techniques and 3D planning to extract the piece, minimizing the impact on the bone and ensuring a quick and comfortable postoperative recovery.
State-of-the-Art Protocols
Absolute precision in every intervention
The success of complex surgery depends not on luck, but on planning. Thanks to advanced diagnostic technology, we can anticipate any complications, protecting vital structures and ensuring a calm and predictable experience.
Real 3D Vision
We don't operate blindly. Thanks to dental CT (CBCT), we visualize nerves, roots, and bone in three dimensions to plan the approach.
Minimal Invasion
Our surgical philosophy aims to preserve as much of the gum tissue and healthy bone as possible. This results in cleaner procedures.
Zero Anxiety
We have Conscious Sedation protocols that allow you to experience the procedure in a state of total relaxation, eliminating fear.
Vélez-Málaga
Painless technology
We know that the word "surgery" commands respect. That's why at Acosta Cubero we want your experience to be calm and stress-free.
We offer conscious sedation monitored by anesthesiologists. It's not general anesthesia (you won't fall into a deep sleep), but you'll enter a state of complete relaxation and well-being. Time will fly by, and when it's over, you won't remember any noises or discomfort. Ideal for patients with anxiety or those undergoing lengthy surgeries.
Frequently Asked Questions Dental Implants
Everything you need to know before you take the plunge
We know that going into surgery (even in the dental chair) can be unsettling. Here we answer the key questions our patients in Vélez-Málaga ask us so you can approach your procedure with complete confidence.
Will I have inflammation after having my wisdom tooth removed?
Inflammation is a natural part of the body’s healing process, but thanks to our minimally invasive technique and the anti-inflammatory medication we’ll prescribe before and after the procedure, swelling is usually moderate and lasts only 48-72 hours. Applying local cold therapy and following Dr. Urbano’s advice makes recovery very manageable.
Is bone regeneration painful?
No. It’s done under local anesthesia, just like a filling. The area goes numb and you don’t feel a thing. The recovery period might be a little more uncomfortable than a simple extraction due to the manipulation of the gum, but it’s easily managed with common pain relievers.
What does it mean that a tooth is "impacted"?
This means the tooth is trapped within the bone or under the gum and cannot erupt due to lack of space or poor positioning. If left untreated, it can push against other teeth, damage neighboring roots, or cause infections (pericoronitis). A 3D CT scan allows us to see its exact position and extract it safely.
Do I need sick leave or rest?
It depends on the procedure and your job. For a simple extraction, you can usually resume your normal activities the next day (avoiding strenuous physical activity). For more complex surgeries (such as grafts or removing all four wisdom teeth at once), we generally recommend two or three days of relative rest at home. We will provide you with a doctor’s note if needed.
Is conscious sedation safe?
Absolutely. It’s a procedure performed by an anesthesiologist who monitors your vital signs at all times. It’s much safer than general anesthesia, and recovery is immediate: you leave the clinic on your own two feet (although we recommend you come with someone).
What will I be able to eat after surgery?
For the first 24-48 hours, we recommend a soft, cold diet (yogurt, ice cream, warm purees, gazpacho, etc.). The cold helps reduce swelling. You should avoid hard, spicy, very hot foods, or foods with small seeds (like kiwi or strawberries) that could get into the wound.
