Peace of mind for parents
Why is Invisalign Teen different from adult?
Teenagers aren't miniature adults; their mouths are still changing and their lifestyles are demanding. At our clinic in Vélez-Málaga, we use the specific "Teen" system because it incorporates technology designed to address the unique challenges of this age group.
Early Diagnosis
What problems does Invisalign Teen correct?
Thanks to SmartForce technology and biomechanical advancements, we can now treat complex malocclusions with the same or even greater effectiveness than with braces. Furthermore, adolescence is the golden age for orthodontics: bone metabolism is rapid, allowing us to achieve faster and more stable tooth movements than in adulthood.
Severe Crowding (Mounted Teeth)
This is the most common case: the teeth come out rotated or overlapping due to lack of space.
The Teen Advantage: With braces, cleaning crowded teeth is a nightmare. With Invisalign, once the aligners are removed, teenagers can floss perfectly, preventing gum inflammation while we correct tooth position and widen their smile.
Class II (Delayed Jaw)
It occurs when the lower jaw is further back than the upper jaw, creating a “small chin” profile.
Exclusive innovation: Invisalign Teen features a function called Mandibular Advancement (precision wings). These are “wings” on the aligners that gently guide the jaw forward when you close your mouth, correcting your profile without the need for uncomfortable elastics or extra metal brackets.
Deep Overbite
When you bite down, your upper teeth almost completely cover your lower teeth. This wears down your lower teeth and can damage your gums.
The solution: We use “bite ramps” integrated into the back of the upper aligners to naturally lift the bite and protect the enamel from day one.
Open bite
The back teeth touch, but the front teeth don’t meet (there’s a gap when closing). This often makes it difficult to eat sandwiches or cut food.
Why it’s better: Interestingly, Invisalign is superior to braces in these cases. The thickness of the plastic over the molars helps to gently “push” (intrude) them, closing the front bite more quickly and predictably.
Diastemas (Spaces between teeth)
The opposite of crowding: there are visible gaps between the teeth.
The approach: Although some celebrities have made it fashionable, excessive gaps can trap food and damage the gums. We close these gaps to achieve a compact, healthy, and aligned smile.

Invisalign Teen FAQs
Everything you need to know before you take the plunge
We know that different concerns arise at home. As parents, you worry about the responsibility, the cost, and whether they'll actually wear it; they worry about whether it will hurt or if it will be noticeable in class. Here we answer the most common questions you ask us in consultations.
Do they have to take him to school?
Yes. For it to work, they must wear it for 22 hours a day. It’s only removed for eating and brushing their teeth. They have to wear it at school, but since it’s invisible and doesn’t affect their speech, they won’t have any problems or feel self-conscious.
What happens if you lose an aligner?
Don’t panic! Invisalign Teen includes replacement aligners for this. Just give us a call, we’ll temporarily give you the next or previous size, and we’ll order the replacement. The important thing is that they keep using them.
Does it hurt to change aligners?
It’s normal to feel slight pressure for the first 1 or 2 days after getting a new aligner (it means your teeth are moving). But it’s much less uncomfortable than the pain of braces. You can take a mild pain reliever if needed.
How long does the treatment last?
It’s similar to braces, generally lasting between 12 and 18 months, depending on the complexity. The good thing is that, thanks to the scanner, we’ll know the estimated duration before we even begin.
Is it much more expensive than braces?
La diferencia de precio se ha acortado mucho. Si valoras la higiene (menos caries), la ausencia de roturas y urgencias, y la felicidad de tu hijo/a al no verse con metales, es una inversión en salud y autoestima que vale la pena.
