ALL-ON-FOUR TECHNIQUE. DENTAL IMPLANT IN ONE DAY

More and more people are choosing to recover, after losing teeth, not only oral function but also the aesthetics that healthy, aligned and complete teeth provide.

In this last aspect, implantology plays an important role; because it is through this technique that damaged or lost teeth are recovered from our mouth.

WHAT IS THE ALL-ON-4 TECHNIQUE?

In implantology, we are currently dealing with the most innovative technique, which stands out as a highly recommended alternative due to its simplified process and speed. All-on-Four involves the immediate placement of the dental prosthesis, practically on the same day as the surgery. Thus, compared to conventional implant systems, the All-on-Four technique simplifies the process. This treatment provides patients with an effective, fast, and reliable restoration of their teeth, whether upper or lower arch. The technique also allows for extractions, infection control, and the placement of fixed teeth and implants, without a palate, all on the same day.

A key feature of this method is that it involves placing only four implants in the dental arch, without the need for bone grafting. These four implants guarantee success and allow you to achieve your desired smile.

There are several types of “All-on-4” implants

1.- Standard: The implants are placed on the bone. This technique is applied to patients who have sufficient bone

2. Hybrid: This technique is used for patients who have lost part of the bone in the back of the upper jaw. It involves placing two anterior inserts and two Zygoma implants in the back.

3. Zygomatic: This technique is used in patients who have lost all of their maxillary bone. The implant is placed on all four implants. This implantology technique is based not only on the speed with which it is performed but also on the significant cost savings it offers compared to traditional techniques.

PARTICULARITIES AND ADVANTAGES OF ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS

The manufacture of these implants is globally recognized

  • They are made of titanium: a biocompatible element that integrates very well into the bone and has a good response to soft tissues
  • It does not describe cases, in general, of rejection or allergies
  • Initially, a provisional prosthesis is placed that is later replaced by a fixed one. Both are anchored by previously placed implants.
  • Because fewer implants are placed, this technique is less expensive. In other words, it represents a significant cost saving compared to conventional techniques.
  • It also saves time and visits to the dentist
  • An immediate solution is offered to the patient and an improvement in their chewing, phonation and aesthetic functions.
  • The time that elapses from the placement of provisional prostheses to fixed prostheses is about 5-6 months.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT CONSIST OF?

  • Firstly, a first visit to the dentist in which the diagnosis is carried out
  • The patient goes to the consultation, a detailed study is performed (including x-rays) and measures are taken to begin the treatment plan
  • An intervention date is set
  • When the date arrives, the treatment begins in the dentist’s office; and if the patient requires it, the anesthesiologist will administer conscious dental sedation.
  • If necessary, extractions will be performed prior to the placement of the dental implants, which will allow the prostheses to be anchored later.
  • Once the surgery is complete, the temporary prostheses are touched up and readjusted so that they are perfectly positioned.
  • During the period in which the patient is wearing temporary prostheses, they must attend periodic check-ups until their final prostheses are placed after 4-5 months.
  • The definitive prosthesis will be made when the healing process of the intervention has been completed
